Today, we had to catch Stormy Cat because she had a terrible looking wound on her face. We brought her in to Quaintance House to be sedated, shave and clean up her face. Of course, we updated all of her vaccines. She is going to be fine.
Racetrack Program Blog
Caring for abandoned racetrack cats involves a dedicated staff and a lot of supplies.
Food delivery day!
Food delivery day! This is one of our favorite days every month. We always get a good shipment of both dry and canned food. We feed a variety of foods because we care for a variety of cats. We try new brands and flavors and take full advantage of sales, discontinued items and donated items.
Tortie
Tortie was eating and had some bloody drool. We caught her and brought her in to our friends at Hearthstone. The sedated her and did dental work. She is on the mend.
The horses are gone for the season.
The horses have all left the track for the season now. We trapped and vaccinated 2 more cats and started the winter canned food regimen. So far this month we have treated 11 cats for fleas.
Sir Charles
We arrived at the track Wednesday morning to find a handsome new cat. He is very sore and can hardly walk. He is also clearly feral. We set the trap and today we have him. We brought him to the clinic and it turns out he has a somewhat rare condition where his claws are growing into the toes. The only cure is to declaw him and find him a new home. We will keep you posted. We named him Sir Charles.
July 10, 2018. Sir Charles is happy with our volunteer, Michelle.
